Organ concerts at Frari Church

San Polo 3072, campo dei Frari

Description:

Santa Maria Glorioza Dei Frari is the most beautiful church of Venice, the main altar of which adorns the Assunta - the ascension of Maria Titian. Built in the XIV - XV centuries by the Franciscans.

Many works of art are stored in the basilica: the triptych of Giovanni Bellini, the figures of Our Lady and St. Francis by the Bartolomeo Bon school, the statues of St. Anthony from Padua and St. Agnes by Girolamo Campagna, the statue of John the Baptist in the first southern chapel of choirs, the statue of John the Baptist by Jacopo Sansovino, etc.

Doges, artists, are buried here. In addition, the basilica has two ancient organs (18th century) and an organ from 1928. After reconstruction (late 20th century), the old organs are in working condition.

You can hear them on Fridays at 21:00. Organ music, filling the whole space, passes through you and goes up, taking away unnecessary thoughts and feelings and making room for a new, “bright” life.
