Individual tour with a professional guide.
Description:
All great ancient civilizations were formed in the valleys of large rivers. The Angkor metropolitan area grew near Tonle Sap Lake.
Due to the arrival of meltwater from the mountains along the Mekong, the lake increases in the rainy season to 12-14,000 square kilometers. In the dry season it decreases 3-4 times. The water level difference is 7-10 meters. Traditionally, fishermen settled in the lake floodplain. People are forced to adapt to nature, and build incredibly tall piles or floating houses.
The world of Lake Tonle Sap is surprising and often shocking.
From Siemrip you can visit one of the villages:
• Floating village of Vietnamese refugees Chong Knyi. The entire trip takes ~3 hours. On the way there is an opportunity to visit the temple of Phnom Krom on the mountain with an Angora ticket. 20 minutes from town to pier.
Kampong Pluk Village. Here the houses are mostly on huge stilts. There is an opportunity to go canoeing through the flooded mandra forest. 40 minutes to the dock.
Kampong Kleang. The most distant and non-tourist village. Some houses stand on stilts, some float. 1 hour 30 minutes from town.
A trip to the lake is convenient to combine with other excursions.
