South coast of Cambodia
Description:
To the east of Sihanoukville are two other southern coastal provinces of Cambodia - Kampot and Kep, each of which has its own unique charm and color. The first on the way to Kampot, we are greeted by the Bokor National Park - a huge green massif occupying a flat mountain plateau, raised 1079 meters above sea level. An abundance of natural sites (waterfalls, valleys of stones), religious buildings (Buddhist monasteries and temples, statues of local saints and sorcerers), historical buildings (an old French hotel, an abandoned Catholic church, a former royal palace), located on the edge of a cliff with breathtaking views of the Gulf of Thailand, create a unique atmosphere of a lost paradise hidden from prying eyes. After visiting the National Park, we will go to Campot - the center of the province of the same name, a quiet town, the narrow streets and embankments of which still retain the charm of French colonial architecture. Next, we will go to the salt fields, where we will see how the ancient way the locals mine natural sea salt, then – to the largest caves in Cambodia Kampong Trach, known for its underground temples, galleries and lakes. And we will finish the day in the resort town of Kep - the habitat of blue crabs, the most delicious on the entire coast of the Gulf of Thailand, which everyone can see by trying various dishes from this delicacy at the local crab market.
