About the company:
Carob Museum is one of the small thematic museums of Cyprus located in the city of Limassol.
The museum is a frozen factory for the processing of carob fruits, one of the main articles of Cypriot exports in the early XX century.
Today, the exposition of the museum invites visitors to travel back a century and consider in detail the entire process of processing the fruits of the endemic Mediterranean tree. Cleaned to shine gear and millstone, steam engines and boilers as if waiting for the signal and ready at any moment to play a noisy mechanical concert.
The fruits of the carob tree were valued in ancient times, today their healing properties are confirmed by scientific research. During British colonial rule in Cyprus, the carob tree and its parts were used in the production of film, medicines, candy and chocolate.
