Railroad Day

Description:

Kyrgyz Railway

The Day of the Railwayman of the Kyrgyz Republic was established by the Decree of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic of August 3, 1994 No. 578, in order to preserve and develop professional traditions, taking into account the appeal of employees of the Kyrgyz Railway Administration in honor of the 70th anniversary of the opening of railway traffic in the republic.

The Kyrgyz Railway has a total length of 423.9 km.
The main activity of the Kyrgyz Railway is the transportation of goods and passengers.

In 1913, the construction of the Turkestan-Siberian railway was started, which by September 1917 was brought to the Burnoe station. Already in 1920, the Council of People’s Commissars of the RSFSR decided to continue the construction of the Aulie-Ata-Merke-Pishpek railway (251 versts).

On August 8, 1924, residents of Kyrgyzstan welcomed the first train, which began the development of railway transport in the republic along the Lugovoi-Pishpek section. In 1950, the railway section to Rybachye station was put into permanent operation, which completed the formation of the railway line in the north of Kyrgyzstan.

The new railway connected the Kyrgyz SSR with other Soviet countries. In those days there were no boundaries between them. The trains now unite independent states.

Kyrgyz Railway (Kyrgyz Temir Zholu) connects Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia. Currently, the implementation of the project is being prepared, thanks to which a new China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway line will open.
