Route 1 Imperial Palace + Tiananmen Square + Temple of Heaven
Description:
- Want to be one of the millions of tourists who visit the Imperial Palace every year?
Do you know why the emperors of China loved the Forbidden City? Because it was the only "club" that no outsiders could get into!
The Forbidden City (Gugong) in Beijing is the largest palace complex in the world, occupying 72 hectares. It was built in 1420 under the Ming Dynasty. It served as the residence of 24 Ming and Qing emperors for nearly 500 years.
The complex includes more than 900 buildings and about 10,000 rooms (according to legend - 9999.5). Surrounded by a 10-meter wall and a moat with water. It is divided into the Outer Palace (for state ceremonies) and the Inner Palace (residential chambers).
The main hall is the Hall of Higher Harmony (Taihedian) with a height of 36.57 m. Today it is a museum included in the UNESCO list.
- Visiting Tiananmen Square is the dream of all Chinese people.
A million people fit simultaneously, there were parades on Victory Day, like Red Square in Moscow!
- Why doesn't the sky fall to the ground? Because it is reliably supported by the Temple of Heaven in Beijing!
Why doesn't the sky fall to the ground? Because it is reliably supported by the Temple of Heaven in Beijing!
This majestic complex, built in 1420 during the Ming Dynasty, is a unique testimony to ancient Chinese cosmology. Emperors of China came here to pray for a good harvest and make sacrifices to Heaven.
The main attraction is the Round Altar (Yuantang), where rituals were held. Its three-tiered platform symbolizes the connection of Earth and Heaven. The equally impressive Hall of Prayer for a Good Year (Qinyandian) is crowned with a three-tiered roof of blue - the color of the sky.
