"Morocco for his own": from Marrakech to the Uric Valley. The Kingdom You Didn't Know About
Description:
It's just an impossibly beautiful country route. Not only do you want to get out of the car every five minutes and stare around, but all this beauty is right next to Marrakech, so the journey will not be tedious. But most importantly, there is a very different culture than in cities, about which we will tell you a lot. And many of these stories, we're sure, will surprise you. And here you can make a clay jar yourself, bake bread in the oven, go to visit the locals, figure out how the water mill works, ride mules or camels, climb to the waterfalls and figure out what modern African art is. And if we have enough strength, we can visit wild monkeys.
We will drive along a very picturesque river valley almost to the snow-capped peaks. We will visit the real nomadic Berber market (Monday, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays). It sells everything a mountain dweller needs. This is not only a very curious, but sometimes a shocking sight. Find out why you need to “sprinkle your head with ashes” and who performs the function of a local news agency. We will watch how local “healers”, storytellers and barbers work, and we will even get acquainted with some of them. And if we're lucky, we'll try to shoe the donkey.
We will visit a very nice botanical garden with many endemic plants. If you wish, you can take part in workshops on making bread, cooking Berber Tajin, paint henna hands, see how argan oil is made or visit a Berber beauty salon - by the way, lady Berbers look amazing even deep in seventy years. And what could be better for a traveler than to make a foot bath with aromatic oil massage?! And it's possible!
We will visit a real adobe Berber village, go to the former house of the local sheikh. Now there is an ethnographic museum, and it is a great pleasure to look at unprecedented household items and try to guess their purpose. This village is famous for its potters. Why don't we try to work in the workshop? At the same time, we will talk about the history of this ancient people, we will learn why such a people does not exist, we will talk about its traditions, beliefs and culture. And we will tell you a completely detective story about Berber writing.
Going down to the picturesque mountain river, we will visit a Berber family. This house has preserved the only working water mill in the valley, which provides flour to all the surroundings. And then, if you are not afraid, we will arrange a photo shoot on suspended swinging bridges.
And finally, we will go to the picturesque cascade of waterfalls. This is where wild monkeys live. And they also have amazing stories. On the way, we will see how the finest lace carvings are created from alabaster, decorating Moroccan palaces and mosques. If you suddenly feel the talent of a carver, you can try to create your own masterpiece.
After climbing the waterfalls, you should definitely have lunch right on the bank of the mountain river. If it's hot, we'll put a table in the water. We prepare all products of Tajin or kebabs in advance and bring them with us so that they are of the best quality. Or we can go up to a magnificent restaurant in an ancient adobe Berber fortress. Lunch will be served in the garden with a magnificent view of the Atlas Mountains and the villages and terraced gardens attached to their slopes.
