Yole Valley

In the mountains of Gurvan Saikhan, on the territory of the national park of the same name

Description:

Yoliin Am Valley is world famous for stunning views of eternal snow and ice and is one of the popular natural attractions of Mongolia.

In 1965, this place was declared a reserve. Yol Valley is a deep and narrow gorge with steep cliffs rising to a height of 2815 meters above sea level. The gorge was formed as a result of a strong earthquake that split the mountain into two parts. Noisy mountain streams, falling from the rock, form picturesque waterfalls.

The valley is covered with eternal snow and ice that never melts. Despite this, the animal world here is rich and diverse - exploring the surroundings, you can see the nests of rare birds. In fact, the valley received its name in honor of the bearded bird, which is called yol in Mongolia. The bearded man is a bird from the hawk family, which is probably why the name of the Yole Valley is often translated as the Valley of the Eagles. Also here you can see birds stenolars, ulars and four species of finches.

The bottom of the gorge is covered with ice fields, which in the past persisted throughout the year. Now in the summer they disappear.

When thousands and thousands of fossilized dinosaur skeletons began to be found in the Gurvan Saikhan National Park, a beautiful open-air museum was created in the valley.
