Khan-Huhiin Nuruu Ridge
Description:
In the south of Mongolia there is a natural reserve Kotlovina of large lakes, formed on the site of old extinct volcanoes. Tectonic activity in the area has long ceased, and in the calmed craters of old volcanoes formed freshwater lakes. In the northern part of the basin, the small mountain range of Khan-Huhiin-Nuruu separates Lake Ubsu-Nuur from the rest of the basin and resembles a long narrow bridge.
All lakes are interconnected, and even a small rocky ridge of Khan-Huhiin-Nuruu does not prevent them from communicating and maintaining constant water exchange. This narrow mountain range owes its origin to the once active volcanic activity in the area, which formed rocky cliffs and deep caves. Today, this place was chosen by hiking tourists climbing Khan-Khuhin-Nuruu to admire the lake region from a height.
