Gobi-Gurvan-Sayhan National Park
Description:
Gobi-Gurvan-Sayhan National Park is the largest national park in Mongolia, located in the north of the Gobi Desert (south of Mongolia). The National Park was established in 1993, and in 2000 its territory was enlarged to its present size.
The national park got its name from the Gurvan-Sayhan-Uul ridge, which means “three beauties” in Mongolian.
The most famous is the narrow sand massif of Khongorin Els stretched for 180 km, some dunes reaching a height of one hundred meters and several hundred meters in width.
Not far from the edge of the sands flows the Khongorin-Gol stream, you can also see the Yolyn-Am gorge, at the bottom of which year-round ice remains.
On the territory of the park and to the north of it are the famous cemeteries of dinosaurs, the age of some of the finds is estimated at 80 million years.
Through the desert scattered yurt camps, which are on excursion routes for tourists in order to get acquainted with the culture.
