Gurvan Saikhan National Park

-

Description:

The largest national park of Mongolia got its name from the mountain range Gurvansaikhan-Uul, which in translation from the ancient language means "Three beauties". Established in 1993, it includes the southern part of the Gobi Desert and almost the entire north of Mongolia.

Most of the park is occupied by a mountain range and desert terrain. The most famous sand massif is called Khongorin Els or “Singing Sands”. Long elongated dunes attract tourists from all over the world with their amazing property - by constant movement they create amazing sounds, resembling sometimes drumbeats, and sometimes a high mysterious song.

In the Gobi desert there is another unique place - the cemetery of dinosaurs. Some of the skeletons found in these sands are over 80 million years old.

Another attraction of the reserve is the gorge of Yelyn-Am, at the bottom of which there is a stream and four magnificent waterfalls. Tourists visiting this crevice dress warmly, because at its bottom permafrost reigns and even in summer snow falls.
