Lake Achit
Description:
The name of Lake Achit translates as “Beneficent Lake”. Located simultaneously in Bayan-Ulgiy and Ubsunur aimak, it is unique in its kind. This small lake, even in satellite images, strikes with the incredibly deep blue color of the water.
The water in the lake is quite cool, which is explained by the flowing origin of the reservoir. It is fed by three rather large rivers Bukhemuren, Altangadas-Gol and Uliastein-Gol. On the south side, it is united by a small channel with Lake Zuun-Hol. Despite the stable circulation of water, extensive wetlands have formed at the confluence of rivers. The other shores are rocky and are rocky cliffs.
The lake is quite shallow, the average depth is not more than two meters. There are three small islands on the lake, where many migratory birds find shelter every year.
