Natural History Museum
Sukhbaatar Square, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
About the company:
This museum in Ulaanbaatar is very popular among tourists - up to 70 thousand people visit it per year. The collection of the museum includes more than ten thousand rare natural exhibits.
The idea of creating the Natural History Museum was born in 1924, when the ruler of Mongolia died and all his property, including such unique archaeological finds as dinosaur eggs, was put up for auction. Now the museum has more than forty rooms, and the total area exceeds 6000 square meters.
The collection represents the development of nature in Mongolia: there is a sixteen-meter dinosaur skeleton, samples of volcanic rocks and fossil wood, precious stones, tools of ancient people, a huge collection of stuffed animals and birds, as well as dioramas on the theme of wildlife. Since stuffed plants and plants in the collection, sooner or later become useless, the collection of the museum is regularly updated. A special research center is responsible for updating, which annually organizes expeditions, during which employees discover new exhibits.
