Choibalsan Airport

Description:

Choibalsan Airport is one of the largest passenger terminals in Mongolia. The annual passenger traffic here is 6200 people. Choibalsan is equipped with the latest technology, the pride of the airport are the long runways. The airport is able to receive large aircraft weighing more than 75 tons.

Interestingly, Choibalsan previously belonged to the USSR Air Force and was used for military purposes. With the collapse of the Soviet Union, the airport’s jurisdiction changed and its military importance lost. Eventually, the military airfield was demolished, and the current airport was built in its place in 2001.

The airport operates around the clock, performs domestic flights, and since 2008 you can get to neighboring China. Classification refers to airfields of the 1st class.
