Fort Mandalay

Description:
The city of Mandalay is located in Burma and one of its main attractions is the ancient Mandalay Palace, which at the beginning of the war with the British became the Mandalay Fort. It is located in the city center and was built in 1857. The idea of using it as a military fortification was not without logic: a few years before the war, the building and yard were surrounded by a reliable fence.
The fortress is square in shape and surrounded by a wall and a moat. Each side of the square is 2 kilometers long, the average height of the wall is 8 meters, and the thickness is 2 meters. The fortress still houses a camp for the military and their families, and visitors will be asked to show their passports at the entrance.
During the war, all the buildings of the fort, except the wall, were destroyed, but then restored by local craftsmen almost in its original form.
