Shveinbin Monastery

89 St, Mandalay

Description:

Shweinbin Monastery, which is a traditional Burmese building, is located in the southwest of Mandalay. Built in 1895 by Chinese merchants, the monastery consists of many impressive ornaments carved out of wood and also contains a number of remarkable works of art from the era of the Burmese kingdoms.

Currently, about 35 monks live in the Shveinbin monastery complex, who maintain order in it. At the heart of Shweinbine’s design are materials made from teak wood, which is ubiquitous in Myanmar, but rarely in such good condition.
