Greece will receive 500 Russians a week
Greece Monday opens the border for two weeks for Russian citizens - allowed to enter up to 500 people a week with a negative test for coronavirus and vouchers to the hotel.
In the future, the quota can be increased two to three times.
Greece will open the border for two weeks - from 7 to 21 September. Citizens of Russia will be able to enter the country through the airports of Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion.
Russians must have a negative laboratory text on COVID-19 by PCR, taken no more than 72 hours before their arrival in Greece, with a certificate in English.
Airlines are required to check this certificate before boarding a passenger, and without it to prohibit boarding, or they will have to repatriate the passenger at their own expense.
Citizens of Russia must fill in the PLF (Passenger Locator Form) electronic form with their contact details in Greece.
It is assumed that the number of visitors can be controlled through the PLF platform, but not everyone will risk flying under this limit.
Earlier, the introduction of such a quota for Israeli citizens led to chaos at airports – not everyone could fly out. Two weeks later, the quota was doubled, as no infected tourists were found, and from September 15, restrictions on the number of visitors can be lifted.
A similar procedure can be applied to Russia, says the managing director of the tour operator Tez Tour Greece Dimitris Haritidis.
According to him, after a trial regime in two weeks, the quota can be increased to a thousand and a half thousand people a week.
With such restrictions, with so many tests and everything else, those who want tourism will fly to Turkey. Apparently, businessmen, big lovers of Greece or those who have an expensive reservation will go, Haritidis said.
Vice-President of Ambotis Holidays Georgy Akritidis believes that tour operators will not put charters with a small number of tourists.
The important question is who will fly. Aeroflot said it does not see the possibility of resuming flights to Greece, given the current restrictions.
