The results of the study: how have tourists in Russia changed from 2019 to 2023?
SberIndex Lab and OneTwoTrip service explored the tourist market. According to the researchers, in 2022, the domestic tourist flow almost recovered to the level of dokovidnoy 2019.
Number of tourists
The number of travelers in Russia among Sber’s clients in 2022 increased by 8% compared to 2021 – up to 47 million people. Expenditures on domestic travel increased compared to the previous year by 13%, to 2.795 trillion rubles.
Savings
Real spending per person fell by 7%. In 2022, travelers chose budget accommodation options (apartments, hostels, guest houses). More than half of their spending in the region of stay the average tourist did in grocery stores. Cafés, bars and restaurants account for 16% of spending.
Directions
Direction leaders - Moscow and the Moscow region, St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, Sochi. Krasnodar region.
Russians are opening up for new attractions. Regions with a large increase in the flow of tourist money: Chukotka Autonomous Region (+31%), Altai Territory (the same), the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) (+28%), the Amur Region (+27) and the Republic of Dagestan (+26%).
The average duration of a trip across the country for the year remained the same: no more than 6 days: 5.9 when traveling by plane (in 2021 - 5.8 days) and 4.6 - by train (a year earlier - 3.9 days).
