The border service of the Russian Federation published data on the entry of foreigners into Russia. By the end of 2023, this is 15.5 million people, which is 2.4 million more than in 2022. With tourist purposes in 2023, there were 670.7 thousand visits, which is more than 3 times more than in 2022.
The e-visa gave a powerful impetus to the growth of the number of visits of foreigners to Russia, according to the results of last year, the flow of tourists from abroad increased more than three times, but most travelers still came for business purposes.
- The main supplier of tourists to Russia in 2023 China. At the end of the year, citizens of this country made 199.8 thousand visits to Russia, indicating tourism as their goal.
- In second place in the tourist flow to Russia – Germany (55,900). Most travelers came to Russia for personal (such as visiting relatives) or business purposes.
- In third place, Turkey (47,500). Tour operators believe that this market has potential. For example, earlier Turkish citizens loved to come to Moscow and St. Petersburg for short city tours.
- Fourth place. UAE (42,500 visits). Residents of this country have an interest in tourist trips to Russia, but the inability to pay in Russia with cards of foreign banks inhibits the flow of tourists.
- Closes the top 5. Turkmenistan (34,700 visits).
