Vice-President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT) Yuri Barzykin believes that the experiment to introduce a resort fee in a number of regions of the Russian Federation did not have a serious impact on the flow of tourists to them.
The experiment to introduce a resort fee in Russia will last until the end of 2024. So far, it operates only in the Crimea, Altai, Stavropol, Krasnodar Territory, St. Petersburg and on the federal territory of Sirius.
“The collected funds are directed to the improvement of resort territories,” Barzykin said.
According to the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, after December 15, the regions will be able to decide whether to introduce a resort fee or not.
Someone will be more important than improvement, and someone will not want to annoy tourists with a new tax.
