What tours are Russians planning for the New Year?
Maya Lomidze, Executive Director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), said that sales of New Year tours this year are worse than in 2022 due to tourists’ fears to book their holidays in advance.
Among the most popular destinations are the leaders: ski resorts of the Krasnodar Territory, the North Caucasus, Sheregesh in Kuzbass.
According to Lomidze, sales have intensified. In the ranking of the most popular destinations, the ski resorts of the Krasnodar Territory, the North Caucasus - Elbrus, Dombay, Cheget, Kuzbass - Sheregesh are leading, which has very good prospects this year.
As the expert stressed, bookings this year began late, as people were afraid to book ahead.
“Due to not too active bookings of a sharp jump in prices by 2-3 times, as is usual for the New Year, this year there is no, although prices have increased within 20%, in some properties 30%. And the trend of last year, which concerned all destinations, both foreign and domestic, is that the premium class is sold first of all, Lomidze added.
Among foreign destinations are the UAE, Egypt, Turkey.
“If aircraft capacity is added, the picture may change. And very good chances, although the flows are not comparable, the countries of Southeast Asia, which our tourists waited for. Finally, Thailand, India appeared for the New Year holidays, and at prices no higher than in 2019, she said.
