National Parks of Russia: how many tourists visited them in 2023?
Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko said that 10 million tourists visited specially protected natural areas of Russia from January 1 to September 1, for the whole last year the number of visitors amounted to 14 million.
V. Abramchenko said that the demand from tourists to visit specially protected natural areas is growing annually.
At the end of last year, the number of visitors increased by 40% and reached 14 million people. As of September 1, we have already registered about 10 million people. The top 5 most popular natural territories among tourists included Kislovodsky and Sochi national parks, Curonian Spit and Krasnoyarsk pillars, as well as the national park “Elbrus”.
“Together with the development of ecotourism and the creation of safe and comfortable conditions for staying in such territories, we must ensure reliable protection of unique natural complexes and minimize the anthropogenic load,” Abramchenko added.
