National project “Tourism” was supported by Prime Minister Mishustin
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin instructed to “organize work on the creation of a new national project in the field of tourism and the hospitality industry and submit proposals on this issue to the Presidium of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects.”
The development of domestic tourism is an important issue, which remains one of the priorities of the government.
Earlier, “the creation of the necessary infrastructure for a comfortable and safe stay of tourists” and the preparation of the national project “Tourism” was supported by President Vladimir Putin.
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko oversees the work on the national project, he said that a comprehensive plan for the preparation and approval of the document is now being developed, and expressed hope for its launch “by the upcoming summer tourist season.”
This is a very important step for the tourism industry, as this is a direct instruction of the head of government to develop the national project. Prior to this, preliminary preparatory work was underway, now the task has been formalized, said Georgy Mokhov, director of the Persona Grata legal agency.
“The issue now is the calculation of funding. Everything will depend on which federal programs will be included in the final version, their economy and the rationale for effectiveness. It cannot be ruled out that the Ministry of Finance may significantly reduce the allocation of funds, taking into account the economic situation.”
The development of the national project “Tourism” began this year – it should allocate 629 billion rubles, the state will co-finance the creation of providing tourist infrastructure in 11 clusters in priority territories, subsidize interest rates for the construction of hotels, help the enterprises of the tourism industry with grants and preferential tax regimes.
The working version of the passport of the national project this fall caused criticism from experts who drew attention to the weak elaboration of the document.
According to experts, the national project needs to lay parameters that are understandable to investors. Close cooperation between Rostourism and the industry community is also required.
