What is the high demand for holidays in February?

The demand of Russians for travel in February holidays increased by 60% compared to the same time in 2023, this is due to the reorientation of tourists from the shortened March weekend.

Vice-President of the Alliance of Travel Agencies Alexander Mkrtchyan shared his observation: The distribution of holidays for the next year takes place about six months before the New Year. This year, for the first time in many, many years, there will be four consecutive weekends on February 23. March 8 was always 2-3 days before, and this year only one day off. Therefore, we are seeing a huge increase in demand for tours for the February holidays - plus 60% compared to the same period last year.

As Mkrtchyan noted, the increase in bookings is due to the fact that the mass of tourists who are used to resting on March 8, reoriented to the long February holidays.

Tourists from Moscow most often choose trips to the Golden Ring, St. Petersburg.

“Tourists who bought tours back in August saved a lot of money, especially on airfare. Tickets to St. Petersburg, which then cost about 3 thousand rubles one way per person, now - 10 thousand rubles. A flight to Venice or Rome with a connection in Istanbul on February 23 cost in October 80 thousand rubles "back and forth", and now - 170 thousand rubles per person, - said Mkrtchyan.

In 2023, on the Defender of the Fatherland Day, Russians will rest from February 23 to 26.
