St. Petersburg: the start of the tourist season and a new tradition
City Committee for Tourism Development (St. Petersburg) created a new idea for visualizing classical St. Petersburg, and announced the start of an interesting urban tradition.
Every Sunday at 12:00, after a cannon shot from the Naryshkin bastion of the Peter and Paul Fortress, in the courtyard of the State Academic Chapel of tourists and citizens will be waiting for the musical “Imperial Noon”.
In the open window of the Royal Pavilion of the Chapel, musicians in ceremonial uniforms will perform a famous melody.
Sergey Korneev, Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development: We have long wanted an event to appear in our city, which is repeated at the same time throughout the tourist season. Of course, we have a tradition of firing a cannon on the Peter and Paul Fortress, which the citizens know about. There was an idea to supplement this classic event with an interactive action, in which residents and guests of our city can participate, coming to the Palace Square. And through the new St. Petersburg tradition to join a positive, interesting, lively history.
On April 30, Ask Me SPb was launched in the city. More than 100 volunteers, whose motto is “It’s clear with me in St. Petersburg!”, will answer tourists’ questions and inform them about city events. Travelers will receive free information materials and city maps.
