Thailand to start issuing long-term visas to foreigners in October

Thailand Since October, it plans to issue special tourist visas for long-term stay in order to restore the foreign tourist flow.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) said: The STV visa will allow foreign tourists to come to the country, but they will have to agree to a mandatory 14-day quarantine and stay in the country for at least 90 days. The visa can be extended twice, each time for 90 days. The cost of a visa <...> will be 2 thousand baht (about 4.8 thousand rubles). It is expected that the special visa scheme will come into force after the official announcement of the authorities and will be available until 30 September 2021.

Tourists wishing to become STV visa holders must comply with COVID-19 control and prevention measures: they must confirm the possibility of a long-term stay in Thailand, for example, a hotel reservation or a long-term rental agreement.

Now Thailand is closed to foreign tourism, an exception is made for several categories – diplomats, UN representatives, business trips, tourists arriving at exhibitions and as part of health trips. Everyone needs to go through a 14-day quarantine.

From October 1, Phuket plans to resume accepting foreigners as an experiment, but with restrictions.
