Cultural institutions open in Moscow on January 22

According to the decree signed by the mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin, from January 22, the work of museums, libraries, other cultural institutions, as well as entertainment, cultural and leisure, entertainment, exhibition, educational, mass physical culture, sports, advertising and other similar events will resume in the capital.

The main condition for the resumption of work of cultural institutions is compliance with epidemiological standards, including mask regime, as well as limiting the number of visitors, which should not exceed 50% of the total capacity of the relevant premises.

This restriction applies to visits to:

  • museums, exhibition halls, libraries, lectures, trainings (except for official events organized by executive authorities);
  • game events, master classes;
  • promotional activities;
  • children's playrooms, children's entertainment centers, day camps, other venues for such events for minors in buildings, buildings, facilities (premises in them), including in PCiO and shopping center;
  • theaters, cinemas, concert halls – thus, the maximum number of spectators will increase from 25% to 50% of the total capacity;
  • mass physical and sports events.

Experts expect the resumption of tourist flow to the capital closer to spring or summer, provided that the epidemiological situation does not deteriorate and, possibly, other restrictions will be removed, including from the age group 65+.

While there is hope for this scenario, as the mayor of Moscow said, the capital recorded a decrease in the incidence of coronavirus in the first week after the New Year holidays by 30%, and a decrease in the number of hospitalizations by 18%.
