Varadero: Ministry of Tourism of Cuba has clarified the rules of entry of tourists
From April 1, Russian airlines can operate direct flights to the Varadero resort.
The headquarters for the fight against coronavirus allowed 7 flights a week from Moscow. Tour operators will be able to organize tours to Varadero no earlier than the May holidays, as it takes time to sign contracts with hotels and carriers.
Ministry of Tourism Cuba sent a document to Russian tour operators, travel agencies, airlines, which spells out the rules of entry. The rules will be the same as for the island of Cayo Coco, where planes from Russia have been flying since November.
“Every visitor will be tested for SARS-CoV-2 on arrival at Varadero Airport in real time by PCR, which will be sent to the Molecular Biology Laboratory in Matanzas province. [...] The visitor wears a bracelet that identifies him/her during the day before receiving the test results.” "The tourist must comply with the established isolation measures," the letter from the Ministry of Tourism said.
With a negative result of the PCR test, the tourist can unlimitedly use the services of the resort.
“In case of a positive result with an asymptomatic form of infection, the client moves to a 4* hotel on Varadero (hotel-hospital), where medical personnel are located,” the ministry said.
If a tourist has symptoms of coronavirus on a positive test, they will go to hospital for treatment in accordance with established medical protocols.
“Suspicious cases of infection and contacts of customers with COVID-19 will remain under sanitary surveillance in booked hotels. In all hotels of the resort there is a sanitary control group, which includes a doctor, a nurse and an infectious disease doctor, who, without affecting the rest of customers, will constantly monitor their health in hotels.”
All hotels have received safety certificates approved by the Ministry of Health of Cuba before opening for tourists and comply with the established protocols.
