Wine tourism in Russia: the state Duma is considering a special bill
The State Duma introduced a bill “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation (in terms of establishing the legal basis for wine tourism).”
- The document implies visiting wineries by tourists for recreation, acquaintance with history, culture, regional traditions of viticulture and winemaking.
- The wine tour can include works at the vineyard, buying products from the manufacturer, accommodation and excursions.
The bill proposes amendments to the Tourism Act, which includes terms related to wine tourism. On the plots included in the federal register of vitiable lands, it will be allowed to build buildings intended for the location of viticulture and wine enterprises and objects of wine tourism: for example, mini-hotels.
Bella Tarasova, the head of the wine tourism commission of the Russian Union of Travel Industry, believes that the new law will allow wineries to develop infrastructure for receiving tourists.
Reviews, suggestions and comments on the document can be submitted until June 29 to the relevant Committee on Economic Policy of the State Duma. The document is included in the program of the lower house for July 2023.
