Castle de Torentiez

Netherlands, 6212 AJ Maastricht Lage Kanaaldijk 63

Description:

De Torenties Castle is a late Gothic complex of buildings located on the outskirts of the town of Maastricht in the Dutch province of Limburg. The castle was built at the beginning of the XV century on the ruins of a medieval house that existed since 1294. The mansion is beautiful in its appearance: several buildings connected to each other are decorated with stepped fronts and small turrets and spires. In 1794, the castle was seriously damaged during hostilities, but was restored to its former glory.

Torenties is currently owned by Andre Leon Marie Nicolas Rieu, who is a Dutch violinist and conductor who enjoys recognition from the general public.
