Description:
Vliek Castle is a beautifully preserved palace located in the village of Ulestaten, in the Dutch province of Limburg. The building is a two-storey house with a roof in the form of a tent, the facade of which has a magnificent design with pilasters, contrasting colors of plaster (white and gray), bas-relief molding, etc., which makes Vliek not like other castles in the Netherlands.
The castle was built at the beginning of the XIX century in the style of Louis XIV, on the foundations of its predecessor. Inside the wings of the building is a courtyard, and around there is a park with two ponds. In the middle of one of the ponds there is a small island. In addition, the park has decorative bridges and a sundial.
Vliek Castle and its surroundings are a national monument of the Netherlands.
