What to see in Sur

Sura is a seaside city of Oman with a cozy atmosphere of a port settlement and proximity to the country’s unique natural landscapes. The city combines a calm sea rhythm, historical motifs of old quarters and the convenience of a starting point for adventures on the coast and inland. It is easy to feel the spirit of the East Coast and experience local traditions in conversation with the residents.

Manufactures and facilities

Man-made sights form a special urban appearance: in Sur, port facilities and traditional shipyards are visible, where wooden boats have long been built, there are embankments and observation platforms, and old quarters with narrow streets keep the memory of trade relations of the region. Lighthouses, memorial signs and small museums help to better understand the history of navigation and crafts, emphasizing that the city has something to see not only in nature, but also in the cultural environment.

Natural attractions and places

The natural pearls around Sura are no less impressive: the Wahib Sand Desert, located about 190 kilometers south of Muscat and about 180 kilometers long, offers majestic dunes and sunsets over the sands. White beaches and mountain gorges give contrasting views, and the east coast with places like Wadi Shab beckons with green waters, swimming in natural pools and trekking through canyons. These landscapes create a rich palette that you can see in the region with different moods and levels of activity.

Build routes and visit interesting places

On our site, all the sights of Sura are collected on an interactive map: you can view points of interest, read brief descriptions and build a personal route. The map allows you to mark objects, estimate distances and travel times, form lists for day walks or long adventures, and save selected points for convenient planning.

You can explore Suru on your own, walking along the waterfront, visiting the shipyard and walking to the beaches and wadi, or using the services of local guides. Excursions with local guides will help to delve deeper into the history and nature of the region, get safe and fascinating routes to the desert and gorges, as well as learn little-known facts and secret observation platforms.

We invite you to come to Sura and discover its diversity on your own or with a guide: the combination of the sea, desert and mountain gorges will leave a vivid impression. Plan your routes, choose what to see first, and go for new discoveries and emotions.
