Secrets of Ancient Ruins and Rainbow Mountain
Description:
1 day. Arriving in Lima, the capital of Peru. Accommodation in a hotel in one of the prestigious areas of the city.
2 days. Examination of Lima. Walk through the historical center of the city (in 1988 it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List). Here you can see the Cathedral of Lima, the Palace of the Government, the Palace of the Archbishop, the Municipality and much more, including the famous wooden carved balconies in the Spanish-Moorish style, a legacy of the period of Spanish colonization. Visit to the Bohemian district of Lima Barranco: a walk on the Bridge of Sighs, acquaintance with local graffiti. In the evening, a walk along the embankment of Miraflores district, enjoying views of the Pacific Ocean and the coastal zone of the city. Dinner at the restaurant.
3 days. Departure to Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire. See the sights of the city. Visit the ancient Coricanche, the most important temple of the Inca Empire. During the Spanish colonization, it was destroyed, and a Catholic cathedral was built on its foundation. However, we can still observe outside and inside the temple famous masonry, created before the Inca Empire by unknown and mysterious masters. In the evening, meet local delicacies.
4 days. In the morning we go to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Visit the ruins of the ancient city of Pisac, one of the largest cities of the Inca Empire. In the afternoon, visit Oyantaytambo. Its ruins not only preserve the memory of one of the greatest rulers of the Inca Empire - Pachacutecus, but also many more ancient mysteries. In the evening, transfer by train to Aguas Calientes, a hospitable town, which is essentially the “gateway” to Machu Picchu.
5 days. A visit to the ancient city of Machu Picchu, trekking to the gates of the Sun, offering a fascinating view of the ruins of the ancient city and the surrounding mountains almost like the movie “Avatar”. Return to Oyantaytambo in the evening.
6 days. Visit the round alpine terraces of Morai, the Maras salt deposit. Arriving in Cusco.
7 days. Trekking for the whole day to the Rainbow Mountain ("mountain of seven colors"). The hike is not easy considering the highlands (4300 – 5100 m above sea level), but the impressions are unforgettable! A very unusual place!
8 days. Flight to Lima. Continuing to explore the city.
9 days. Flight home.
