Park "Portugal in miniature"

Coimbra, Portugal

Description:

Museum-park "Portugal in miniature" is a small village in Coimbra, conveying all the charm and color of Portugal. The park was established in 1940. Here are collected reduced copies of the most significant monuments of architecture, sculpture and history.

The ensemble is complemented by houses in typical Portuguese style. This unique place is decorated with an abundance of greenery and flowers. The park “Portugal in miniature” can be called a synthesis of Portuguese architecture and folklore.

The park was conceived and built by Professor Bissaya Baker, in collaboration with Cassiano-Branco, who was responsible for most of the architecture. “Portugal in miniature” is the predecessor of such parks. The architect dedicated the museum-park to children: the scale of its construction was made taking into account children who learn by playing.

Currently, the monument is the most visited in the city of Coimbra. "Portugal in miniature" can be considered an important cultural site to visit in the first place.
