City of Porto - Northern Capital
Description:
The city of Porto is 300 km from Lisbon. The trip will take 3 hours, but acquaintance with the city will remain in your memory for a long time.
The first thing that catches the eye in Porto are the bridges connecting the two banks of the Douro River. You can sail under them on a boat. The walk will take 50 minutes. The city looks particularly romantic from the river.
Se - Cathedral, majestically rises on a hill. The square in front of the cathedral is a great observation deck.
If you go down the stairs from Se, you will find yourself in the Barredo neighborhood, which has changed little since the Middle Ages. And we will find ourselves in the most touristic place - on Ribeira, on the river embankment. Houses with tiled facades, where dry underwear is hung out for everyone to see. The smell of fried fish spreads everywhere. You can have lunch here.
We will visit the Franciscan Church, the Palace of Bols, the station of St. Bento ... time flies, and you need to get acquainted with the production of Porto wine and taste it. The secret of this wine is the special natural conditions of growing grapes and, of course, the secrets of the producers. This port wine has always been a success among our compatriots.
Tired but full of impressions, we return.
Porto here passed history, giving the name of the whole country, Portugal.
