Lisbon and Sintra from a cruise

Description:

This tour is great for those who do not have much free time to relax in Lisbon, but want to see as much as possible.

You will visit one of the most romantic cities in the world, Sintra, located near Lisbon. Here majestic palaces, castles and luxurious villas are cozy settled in the middle of breathtaking mountains and forests that harbor magic and tell real stories about princesses and kings. We invite you to visit the magical estate of Quinta da Regaleira, built at the beginning of the last century. Its owner, Carvalho Monteiro, being a Mason, filled his brainchild with secret Masonic symbols. Fountains, benches, grottoes and an abundance of planted plants on the territory of the multi-tiered park and pompous decoration of the house will remain in your memory for a long time. In the historic center of Sintra you can walk through the winding medieval streets.

The next stop of our tour will be Cape Rock. At the westernmost point of the continent of Eurasia, motorcyclists like to gather on Sundays and it is here that the entire limitlessness of the Atlantic Ocean is felt. From there, along the coast, we reach the resort towns of Cascais and Estoril, which were a refuge for many prominent figures from all over Europe during World War II. These places today are very popular with tourists who are used to high-class rest.

After a break for lunch, we will walk through Lisbon, an integral part of which are the sun and the Tagus River. From the observation deck of Edward VII Park we will have a picturesque view of the city, standing on seven hills. The wide Avenue of Freedom will lead us to the historical center called Baisha, that is, the lower city because of its location by the river. Here flaunt the Rossio Square, with a funny drawing on the sidewalk, the cast-iron Santa Josta elevator, the earthquake-surviving Church of St. Dominic, the Russian railway station in the style of neo-Manueline and other noteworthy points. The heart of Lisbon is the ancient district of Alfama, in the taverns of which a special national musical style Fado was born. From one of the observation decks of the Alfama, you can see not only Lisbon, but also the opposite coast.

In the area of Belem, which translates as Bethlehem, we will feel all the former power and strength of coastal Portugal, carefully considering the monument to the Discoverers, the Tower of Bethlehem and the church at the monastery of Jeromeites of the fifteenth century. He is considered the best representative of the Portuguese architectural style of Manueline! Be sure to try the real Bethlehem Pasteis de Belem cakes in this area.
