Visiting Quinta da Regaleira, you will take a trip to the world of dreams and imaginations of Antonio Carvalho Monteiro, who created with the help of architect Luigi Manini, the amazing Eden estate. The millionaire, philanthropist, collector, ardent monarchist and freemason Antonio Monteiro in his creation conveyed the ecumenical idea of a possible unification of all religions into one. In the Quinta da Regaleira, with its gardens, wells, lakes, tunnels, chapel, the path of initialization is embodied, where mystical places and esoteric symbolism associated with alchemy, Freemasonry, the Templars and the Rosicrucian society are abundant.

All of them show the path from darkness to light, from ignorance to knowledge, symbolizing the death of the profane and the resurrection of the initiate, indicating that the Earth is the mother’s womb, where life is born and the grave where it goes.
