Night in Porto
Description:
For those who appreciate their time and want to see as many sights of Portugal as possible without spending a lot of time traveling, this mini-tour is for you!
After getting acquainted with Lisbon and Sintra, many people want to visit the homeland of port wine and Henry the Navigator, in the city of Porto. You can go to this “northern capital” of Portugal by train, getting up early, and returning the last train.
You can come with me in the car. At the same time, we will spend most of the tour on the way, convinced of the quality of the Portuguese roads. Of course, on the way I will introduce you to the winemaking of the country, having come to the cellar for tasting, you will already understand its varieties. I will introduce you to the history of Portucale County, which appeared on the banks of the Douro River.
But I want to offer the best option for exploring the city - a two-day tour "Night in Porto".
1 day. Going north, we will visit three cities, three places included in the list of Portuguese wonders of the country: Obidos, Alcobasa and Batalha.
Obidos is an open-air museum. A town with a labyrinth of streets drowning in flowers, a town with a taste of ginji and chocolate.
Alcobasa is his cathedral of the XII century. and the love story of Portuguese Romeo and Juliet, and their filigree tombstones.
Batalha is its majestic cathedral and former monastery, which never ceases to admire its beauty.
2 days. Porto is a city of giant gulls, self-confident cats, grilled fish and huge tiled panels. One of the best is right at the station.
Let’s start with an excursion on the river boat “Rabelush”. These small boats have already become part of the landscape of Porto, picturesquely decorating its embankment, and continue to regularly serve tourists. The tour “Under the bridges of the city of Porto” will take about an hour. After the river tour, we will go to the cellars for a tour with port wine tasting. Back on the road. After all, returning to Lisbon on the way back, we stop in Tomar and get acquainted with the Templar Castle. And stop in Fatima, which is one of the world centers of Christian pilgrimage.
Tired but full of impressions, we return to Lisbon. In two days, we accommodated not only three excursion days, but also a night spent in Porto. You not only saw the city, but, wandering through its streets, sitting in a cafe, trying port wine, felt its atmosphere.
