Berlengash Islands

Description:

Excursion for the whole day, because we will get through Penishi to the island-symbol, an island with numerous grottoes and caves.

The Berlengash Islands have been known since ancient times and were mapped by Greek and later Roman cartographers. Berleng Island has long been a haven for British and French pirates. Located 10 km from the mainland. The island is a landmark that is a symbol of heroism and courage of the Portuguese people. This is a small fortress of Sao Joao Baptista, literally going into the ocean, with a bright and rich history. In ancient times, the island was at the crossroads of important trade routes between Europe, Africa and India. And therefore, even in antiquity, it was decided to put on the island a lighthouse to warn both about dangerous rocks and about the nearby land. The status of the lighthouse of the island was preserved in the Middle Ages. I will tell you more about this on the island. Troubled times are long gone, but the fortress of Sao Joao Baptista, known as the fortress of Berlenga, is perfectly preserved. It currently houses a museum.

On a sunny day, when the waves hit the ground, soaring upwards with a rainbow sparkling wall, an unforgettable sight is created. You will be able to relax there without effort. Watch the fish flocks, the water is so clean that it seems like a fish can be caught with your hands. You will be surprised by the huge number of birds.

Already on the mainland, in Penishas, we can take no time anywhere, have a thorough lunch with drinks. And to understand once again how tasty to enjoy food on the ocean...
