Understand Lisbon in 4 hours
Description:
This tour is for those who come to visit us for the first time or want to get acquainted with Lisbon. During the tour you will see the most beautiful places of the old city, learn its history, which is inextricably linked with the history of the country, visit the most significant monuments and you can taste the city “to taste”: wonderful coffee, rich pastries, a glass of “ginji” or a glass of port wine. Lisbon is a city filled with sun, fado music and the smell of coffee or, closer to lunch, roasted sardines. Do not wander aimlessly around the city with a map in your hands, trust a professional.
Our tour will begin from the observation deck of Edward VII. The city in front of us, as in the palm of your hand, with the calm flow of the Tagus River on the horizon. We go down the main avenue to the Lower Town, to Rossiu Square. This is the most favorite square of citizens, around which trade boils on weekdays. The next square is Commerce Square. Despite its name, it is now more of a tourist square. Crowds of tourists have long admired it. They sit on a marble staircase leading to the water, at cafe tables, sunbathe on the lawn. The city has always looked at the river, and we will also admire it.
Alfama, Bayru Altu - all these are the names of the districts of the old city. You can talk about every house, every street. We're stopping in Alfama. It is better to come to Bayru Altu in the evening, there are typical taverns - "tashkash" scattered everywhere. In the evening in many of them you can listen to the famous Fada.
And ahead we will get acquainted with the former grandeur of Portugal - with the time of the Great Geographical Discoveries, with Vasco da Gama's journey to the shores of India and acquaintance with the unique Portuguese Manueline style - an elegant transition from the late Gothic to the early Renaissance. The triumph of this style was the monastery of Jerónimos, come in. Here is the Belenskaya Tower, the monument to the Discoverers, the Museum of Carriages, the Palace of Ajuda ... just not to list ... Time is running out, maybe we should extend the tour?
