Lisbon

Area of commerce

2715-311 Lisboa, Portugal

Description:

Commerce Square is one of the most beautiful squares of the Portuguese capital Lisbon. It is also called the Palace Palace, because before the earthquake of 1755 it was the royal palace built by King Manuel I.

In the center of the quadrangular square you can see the equestrian monument to the reforming king Jose I. On the square also stands an elegant triumphal arch, which is one of the symbols of Lisbon, decorated with bas-reliefs and statues.

On the site where the ruined palace was, you can see buildings with arcades. On the south side of the square are two square towers.

Being in the Square of Commerce, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Tagus River, and there is also the opportunity to get to the river by climbing the descent by stairs.
