Place of Restorers

Praca Restauradores 47A, 2715-311 Lisboa

Description:

The Place des Restorers in the Portuguese capital Lisbon was named after Portugal’s liberation from Spanish rule in 1640. In 1886, an obelisk was erected on the square in memory of this significant event, with symbolic figures of Freedom and Victory on the pedestal.

In addition to the obelisk, on the square you can also see the building of the Foch Palace, built by Francesco Savario Fabri in 1755-1777. Now there is a tourist company in this palace.

The square is home to the Avenida Palace Hotel, designed by Jose Luis Monteira.
