Rossio Square

2715-311 Lisboa, Portugal

Description:

Rossio Square is one of the main squares of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. We can say that this square has two names. The old, since the XIII-XIV centuries, the name of Rossio, and the official, since 1874, the name of the Square of Don Pedro IV.

The square is paved with dark and light cobblestones in such a way that a pattern is formed in the form of waves, decorated with luxurious bronze fountains.

On the square you can see the monument to King Pedro IV on a high pedestal, as well as the building of the National Theatre of Don Mario II. Previously, the site of the theater was the Inquisition Palace.
