About the company:

The Museum of Electricity is a cultural center of industrial archaeology that represents the past, present and future of energy, making science accessible to all. The museum is located in the area of Belénia, on the lands conquered by Lisbon near the Tagus River.

The museum will never leave people indifferent. Equipped for visits by people with disabilities, it is adapted for various people, including students and schoolchildren, young children, and even scientists.

The authorities of Lisbon decided to convert the power plant – Centrotejo, which illuminated the capital of Portugal for more than 40 years, into a famous museum. In the early 2000s, the museum was renovated. It included itself from old power plant equipment from elevators, and various coal boilers to capacitors, control panels and steam turbines.

In the museum you can book an educational tour, since it includes not only a scientific museum, but also a rather popular cultural center.

For visitors, acquaintance with the museum begins with the square, which since the time of the power plant's activity has been called - Coal Square. Next, visitors enter the industrial complex through an old low-pressure boiler house turned into an exhibition hall with expositions.

The next hall is the Kotloaggregate Hall, located in the premises of the former high-pressure boiler house, it presents the largest 4 boilers, about 30 meters high.

Next, visitors move to Zolnik, the premises where ash capture and coal collection were carried out for further recycling. Employees are affected by adverse factors such as

high temperature, ash precipitation in the lungs and intense physical exertion. In the Water Hall there are many colorful pipes that are located on the walls and on the ceiling of the room.

Finally, the final stage of the tour is the Control Hall. Here, control over the generators was carried out, as well as a prestation and an energy distributor, which was produced by Centrotejo.
