Oriente Station
Description:
Oriente Station is located in the Park of Nations, in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. This beautiful structure, with a glazed roof and elegant vaults, serves as a real decoration of Lisbon and is among the most striking architectural sights of the city.
Oriente station was built in 1998 to the date of the international exhibition "Expo-98" architect Santiago Calatrava from Spain, whose works are distinguished by innovative design solutions. The architect is mainly inspired by nature, so the bizarre outlines of the canopy over the platforms resemble a dense forest, and the station building itself is the skeleton of a huge sea fish.
The three main materials used for construction are concrete, metal and glass. The station has several floors, the zero floor is designed for transport, but the first one is completely for pedestrians. The entire complex of Oriente station includes both a railway junction and a bus station, as well as a metro station. The age of the building is more than 15 years old, but it still amazes with its bizarre modern shapes and style.
