Me, Svetlana Shapiro is a licensed tour guide and travel organizer in the Portuguese islands of Madeira and Porto Santo. I have lived in Madeira since 2014. I conduct walking and car tours of the islands in Russian for groups from 4 to 45 people, as well as individually from 1 to 4 people. If you want to see the most impressive landscapes of the island, feel its atmosphere and get to know Madeira as the locals know it, then this route is for you.
In 8 hours we will drive through the most picturesque places of the western part of the island.

The colorful fishing village of Câmara de Lobos, where Winston Churchill painted his paintings. Here you will learn how to catch the famous saberfish (espadu), why one of the streets is called “men’s street”, where women are at this time and see an unusual art project created from garbage.

One of the most famous observation decks in Europe is Cabo Girão with a glass floor at an altitude of almost 600 meters above the ocean.

The mystical forest of Fanal, where ancient laurel trees, shrouded in fog, create a feeling of a real fairy tale.

Ribeira da Janela is a place that cannot be forgotten.

The route takes place at different altitudes and in different climatic conditions, so you need closed comfortable shoes not on a slippery sole, a jacket type windbreaker, sunscreen, preferably a headdress and water, necessarily - a good mood.

Walking through the city of Funchal.

For those arriving in Funchal for the first time, it is best to stroll from the Pestana Casino Hotel to the old town of Zona Velha with a visit and tasting of exotic fruits and chocolate at the farmers' market, tasting the sun wine of the island in one of the historical wine halls, that is, take a sightseeing route around the city.

While walking around the city, we will definitely visit the President of Autonomy on a whip with a history - quinta Vigia, stroll through the delightful Santa Catarina Park, feel the vaib of the central streets of the city, visit one of the oldest squares of the city Praça Município and climb the roof of the church Igreja do Colégio, taste the exotic fruits of the island at the picturesque farm market mercado dos Lavradores, walk to the old Santago street and stroll along the fortified Santago doors. You will learn what connects Funchal and Gibraltar, why Funchal is called the first Portuguese city in Oceania, how the features of the city were reflected in its architecture, what symbols are used in the greening of the city and its arrangement, how the Open Doors art project was born, and in which cafes you should drink the right coffee in the morning. This tour lasts 3.5 hours. We will finish our walk near the cable car station in the old town, from where you can climb to the Monte Tropical Park on your own.

Do not forget when planning a walk that the market in Funchal on Sunday is not open, the most pleasant impressions of visiting it remain on the farm days - Friday and Saturday. On weekends and holidays, wine tasting halls are also closed, so if you are serious about understanding the wine of the island, it is better to order a specialized wine tour.

And, of course, if you want to walk in a small group with me (from 4 to 10 people), then this group tour is held every Friday from 9:30 in the morning. An individual tour can be booked for any convenient day of the week.
