Braga and Guimarães - the cradle of Portugal
Description:
This tour will introduce you to the spiritual and historical origins of Portugal, passing through two key cities of the country – Braga and Guimarães. The journey begins with Braga, one of Europe’s oldest Christian centres, known as “Portuguese Rome”. You will visit the famous sanctuary of Bon Jesos do Monti with its majestic Baroque staircase, enjoy the panoramas of the city and stroll through the historic center with the Cathedral of Sé de Braga, preserving centuries-old traditions and architectural treasures.

It was here that the first king of the country was born, and here the spirit of the Middle Ages is especially acute. You will walk through the beautifully preserved old city, inscribed in the UNESCO Heritage List, see Guimarães Castle and the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza, learn about the key events that have shaped the history of Portugal.
A special part of the tour will be lunch in a cozy family restaurant, where you will find a truly homely atmosphere and stunningly delicious local cuisine.
