Tour of Santiago de Compostela

Description:

The Spanish city of Santiago de Compostela is the third most important, after Rome and Jerusalem, the shrine of the Catholic world.

In the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, the remains of the Apostle Jacob are buried. They were discovered in the IX century, so in the early Middle Ages pilgrims from all over Europe flocked to this place. The path to Santiago de Compostela was called the “Way of St. James”. It still exists today, which is why the city is often called the Christian Mecca. UNESCO has included the entire old part of the city and the “Way of St. James” in the list of World Heritage of Mankind.
