Duero Valley
Description:
This is the most picturesque valley of Portugal, the length of which is 200 kilometers: from the city of Porto to the Spanish border.
There are few large settlements on the banks of the Duero River, mainly small wine villages. Winemaking in this region is very well developed, as the microclimate of the coastal area is very suitable for growing grape varieties, which are used to make the world famous port wine. The main wine-producing areas are concentrated around the villages of Pinhã o and Sã o Joã o da Pesqueira. Here are very picturesque and well-groomed hillsides, on which vineyards are spread. Among the vineyards there are white roofs of the estates.
On the roads along the banks of the river you can meet many travelers who come to admire the beauty of these places. Throughout the river is navigable, here you can ride a boat.
