About the company:
The National Museum of Soares duj Reis, located in the Portuguese city of Porto, is considered the country’s first national museum. It was founded in 1833 by King Pedro IV at the Monastery of St. Anthony. At that time, the collection consisted mainly of religious art. The museum received its name in 1911, in honor of the Portuguese sculptor Antonio Soaris doug Reis, whose collection of sculptures is in the museum's collection.
Since 1942, the museum is located in a two-storey building of the Karrankas Palace, which was built in the XIX century in the neoclassical style of gray and red stone. At the end of the XX century, the museum was expanded and modernized. Expositions acquaint visitors with the history of the development of Portuguese art of the XIX-XX centuries. Among the exhibits of the museum are paintings by such Portuguese artists as Miguel Angelo Lupi, Antonio Carvalho de Silvo Porto, Marquez de Oliveira, sculptures by Antonio Teixeira Lopes, Rodolfo Pinto do Koto, antique furniture, jewelry, ceramic and metal products. In addition to the collection of works of art, in the halls of the palace you can see the dining room, music living room and other rooms that have been preserved since the XIX century.
